The Utah Legislature passed HB 301 in the 2022 legislative session, broadening the scope of practice to allow physicians to dispense medications. Providers are governed by Chapter 88, Part 2: Dispensing Practice. Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and optometrists who are associated with a dispensing medical clinic may apply for a Dispensing Medical Practitioner License.
